The story revolves around the New Kid who starts out in a position where a girl would not be in the first place, except if tomboyish to the 'extreme'(by the mindset of 'society'), and then you would be complaining about 'Why is my girl character acts like a boy and does boy things?'. Therefore girls and boys won't play the same way and the same things because they were raised to be and act like a girl or boy. Why do they separate asks the 'progressive' with no common sense? Because the very culture enforces the idea of some things are 'girls only' and others are 'boys only'(even the 'progressives' pushed by the mainstream by antagonizing everything related to males). Playing the game you'll find that just like in real life kids are separated by gender here. Kids don't work by the current 'up to date idea of ideal perfection'. Because a girl would have made no sense maybe given the context?
